Background of the Study
Counseling services play a vital role in the academic and psychological well-being of students. Federal University, Lafia, like many other higher educational institutions, has faced challenges in providing comprehensive and accessible counseling services to students due to logistical barriers and the increasing student population. Traditionally, students seeking counseling services often encounter long waiting times, limited availability of counselors, and difficulties in accessing face-to-face sessions, which can discourage students from seeking help when needed.
In response to these challenges, the development of an online counseling system can provide a more accessible, efficient, and confidential platform for students to seek counseling. The system would offer a range of services, including academic counseling, career guidance, mental health support, and personal counseling. Utilizing secure communication channels and data encryption, the system will ensure the privacy of users while offering a convenient platform for students to engage with counselors. The online system can be designed using PHP and MySQL for the back-end, integrating with a front-end interface built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a seamless user experience.
Statement of the Problem
The lack of easy access to counseling services at Federal University, Lafia, has resulted in students being unable to receive the support they need for their academic, emotional, and psychological well-being. This situation is exacerbated by the challenges of physical counseling appointments, which may discourage students from reaching out for help.
Objectives of the Study

To design and implement an online counseling system that provides comprehensive support to students at Federal University, Lafia.
